recently i have noticed that at uni high rap has become a really big deal. not just like rap music, but people always wantin people to do a rap battle, i'm not dissin on em cuz i have participated in a few but for all the people who thinkin they can really rap or they good its not about the quantity of rhymes it's about the quality. not only are rap battles big deal but people wantin to be rappers and producers and stuff. seein all this i have decided it's time for me to speak out on everything i have to say.
i really feel that rap battles are pumped up to be more than what they really are, and the way people look at them is really stupid. soooo much stuff at uni always has to be about race, and people have turned these lil recreational rap battles into one of those things. just because i'm black don't mean i got rhymes like lil wayne, wiz khalifa, nicki minaj, or any other rapper yu can think. no lie i got quality rhymes and i'm comin into my own when it comes to spittin but its not something that i would say i feel is a big deal. and i kno a lot of ya'll sittin there at yo computer readin this and tryin to say i'm salty cuz all that stuff that happened wit Green Eggs n' Ham in the locker room. but trust and believe i must not never be salty because he might be clever and quick when it comes to rhymes but that doesn't mean that he is a good rapper, i mean Dr. Seuss was quick wit rhymes and he even made up words and made em rhyme sooo maybe what's his face wit his "Horton Hears a Who" lookin ass should go sit down somewhere and write childrens books. Now yu gon say i'm bein a hater, but what i got to hate on i believe someone said it best today he look like a DUCK. people always gettin hyped about these lil rap battles like aight they fun and entertaining but thats it they prove nothing.
now ya'll gon hate me for this one BUT i feel this needs to be addressed. some people have taken the whole rap battle stuff too far. yu wanna be a rapper comin from uni high. what kinda street cred do yu have, i mean how the hell yu gon sell a mix tape to get yo name out there. yu just gon sell it to people at yo school now that's lame. not to mention ima need yu to come up with a better name that doesn't insult yu and every person that belongs to the same racial group as yu. what the hell is he callin himself again Lil' Krishna or somethin like that? idk. not to mention what do yu have to talk about that's gonna get yu noticed how much homework yu got, or what new vocabulary words yu learned today, yu gon write 99 bars about elements in the periodic table. i mean yu tryin to be the next Mac Miller? he has no street cred and all he raps about is havin hoes and smokin weed like really dude yu just sound like the average politician wit "glaucoma". just do me and yu a favor before yu embarass yurself and SIT.
(i just started a new paragraph because the other one was gettin long, it's still the same topic) i would now like to say that yu might wanna step yur game up when it comes to having a producer because yur producer's name makes him sound like he's some kinda porn star reject. not to mention what does he do besides rip beats from other songs and put them on a track for yu to rap to, anybody can do that wit the right equipment and stuff. and i kno ya'll thinkin now like "oh well he makes mixes too". i kno, he need help wit that too i swear just because yu stayed up all night mixin something yu thought was good does not mean i wanna hear yu play it in the lounge. now im just waitin for him to make a terrible mix of a Nicki song and ima cuss him out, he already f-ed up a Rihanna song. like for real she went through enough wit chris brown tryin to tear up her face, and now yu gon tear up her music?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
now i just wanna take a brief minute to say that ya'll can scratch what i said yesterday if yu find that special someone and yu kno that ya'll got somethin that's real and it's worth never givin up then hold onto that. and yeah yu might have yur problems a long the road but work things and if necessary start over. nothing is worth givin up on a good thing.
I say what yu wanna say cuz I'm,
Dre Noir
Damn, I haven't heard about any of these freestyle battles... if they are freestyles?
ReplyDeleteUNI kids... taking RAP seriously?
Yo, Nikita's rap (pretty boy swag) was pretty high quality swag.
Playing it in the lounge? This sounds abominable.
You've sparked my curiosity...
I totally get what you're saying about the racial presumptions surrounding rap. We forget that there's a huge difference between intellectually planning out raps and being able to just spit truths like they ain't no fools.
People think it's a cultural thing (and sometimes people's cultures do influence these things) but there is a lot more to it.
PS, let me hear some of these UNI battles... cause they sound hella amusin.
Rodney, are you serious? I am not serious in anyway about rap music or mixing and you are attacking me like it is my livelihood. Why would you cuss out someone who is just chilling and trying to have some fun their senior year? I have never affronted you before and I have no idea why you would just be this incredibly bogus about something so pithy. Act your age and realize that it is better to simply disagree and walk away, instead of blowing up whenever you don't like someone or something like this.
ReplyDeleteNo hard feelings though. Much Love.
lmao. no lie i died laughin at this. no i'm not serious will, these are just somethings that pop into to my head. some of them have been over a long period of time and i could see how when they are all put into one concentrated paragraph they could be offensive. and i am acting my age and just havin fun. and i said i would only cuss you out (even tho i never mentioned your name) if yu butchered a Nicki Minaj song but that goes for anyone. i'm not "blowing up" i'm bloggin
ReplyDeletebtw if yu read the description of this blog it says that i might not always say what yu wanna hear and it also says no apologies :(
Lol, alright man. It's all good with me. I think Kid Kurry is pretty angry though...

ReplyDeleteCarl's the guy in the hat.
For real, though, you're taking this waaaaay too seriously. The idea of Carl actually trying to rap in any sort of serious way is nothing but a joke to everyone concerned, including him. Yeah, he had some clever rhymes, but he's not planning on getting serious enough that "street cred" actually starts to matter. So take a deep breath and repeat it back to me:
It. Was. A. Joke.
Yeah. I agree that too much shit at Uni is racial, but no one actually takes the rap battles seriously. It's just an excuse to tease your classmates. One time when I was in a rap battle (very briefly when I roasted Tahar), everyone started making stupid rhymes up about how I like to jump fences and cut grass. That's it. Except for Kid Curry, no one actually takes this rapping thing seriously. Its just an excuse to tease your friends.
ReplyDeleteLOVED it, Rodney. For real, I adore your blog. It's great. Please just keep on writing about whatever you want to write about. Love this insight into your life.
